Het Fijnhout Theatre hosts a variety of creative social initiatives. I volunteered for a production of Romeo & Juliet by kids from educationally disadvantaged and more ethnic backgrounds. The theatre hosted a variety of activities including career development. I’d not photographed my light cuttings and wasn’t sure exactly how so I worked with Odi Bussman who was redefining himself as a professional photographer. I thought green screen would be the way to go so we set up the studio and conducted these experiments. At this time, I didn’t like the idea of monochromatic shadows and thought monochromatic sepia would be a valid concession. I love these now, but it took a trip to the library where Frank Verbeek made me appreciate my sepia monochrome by spending a day with Karl Blossfeldt books. Monochromatic shadows are a recurring theme.

The first wallpapers I designed were produced with some of these iconic shadows produced with Odi as photographer.
