The King is ruler of this kingdom, “on the other side of the world”.  It’s always simply “the other side of the world” no matter the language of the adaptation.  On the other hand, The King is not always a king – that varies depending on the culture.  The basic definition of a king is that of a supreme ruler.  In a democracy, we the people are sovereign as it is our collective will ruling our nations.  The King is never named although there is always a cultural archetype behind the visual interpretation. For example, in The Arabic Book of Shadows The King anonymous king being referred to visually is Sultan Baybars.  Despite the prominence of these archetypes, The King remains anonymous in each adaptation.
