When I began the project, i wasn’t “a project”; it was a theatrical event starring street performers.  I began making the books because they didn’t exist and I needed them to create my ideal theatre production.  The ideal was based on a hodge podge of influences such as: Peter Greenaway’s The Pillow Book and Prospero’s Books; Derek Jarman’s Blue and Wittgenstein; Lynn Hershman Leeson’s Conceiving Ada; and a production of Stellaluna performed by my son and his 6-year-old classmates in Amsterdam where they mostly ran around occasionally animating the narrator’s words – it was sublime as well as hilarious.
